The Škorpion vz. 61 is an iconic firearm that any gun collector should be on the lookout for in their collection. Not to be mistaken for the current 9x19mm CZUSA Scorpion the VZ61 Skorpion is a small machine pistol in .32 ACP developed for the Czechoslovak Army during the Cold War. What it lacked in terminal ballistics it made up for it in rate of fire, firing at 850 rounds per minute. The VZ-61 is quite controllable at full auto with brass ejecting straight up, it is not unusual for the user to empty his entire 20 round magazine before the casings would come back down. Besides being a fun historical gun the VZ.61 lives on in popular culture in video games such as Golden Eye and movies like the Matrix. It’s unique shape and operating system lends itself to a very sci-fi or cyber punk vibe, with a lot of 3d printed parts and designs to modernize the platform. This is a gun you don’t want to sleep on when they become available, whether as a collector or tinkerer, and you definitely don’t want to miss out on authentic parts and accessories when they become available. Because, once they’re gone they are gone.
